Georgia Southern University alum and famous country singer Luke Bryan Statesboro visit the area during the annual farm tour to Camp Perry on Wednesday 8 October in Claxton. A portion of the proceeds from the tour will offer scholarships for South Georgia.
"We are grateful to the alumni who remember South Georgia through their gifts of scholarship. Students and families of these scholars are very grateful for those who give back in this way," said Salinda Arthur, vice president for advancement of the university. "Universities and colleges are more competitive when they can offer scholarships to benefit students."
Bryan fans will get an extra surprise when former Georgia Southern Eagle and country music star Cole Swindell begins tour as his opening act.
Bryan, who graduated from Georgia Southern in 1999 with a degree in business administration, came up with the idea of the Farm Tour concerts as a way to give back to local farming communities celebrating the American Farmer and offering a fun escape with outward sign.
"People like Luke Bryan, who have done well in their profession, have the opportunity to give back and positively affect the lives of many students and their families," said Arthur. "He's setting a great example."
